Hamiltons Tented Camp (Mluwati KNP) is situated within a 10 000 hectare private concession within the Kruger National Park. This is truly the “Gem of Kruger”. The Camp is named after Colonel Stephenson Hamilton, who was instrumental in establishing the world-famous Kruger National Park.

Transport yourself back in time at Hamiltons Tented Camp. Enjoy the fine tradition of luxury in true ‘Out of Africa’ style.

Hamiltons Tented Camp offers magnificent tented suites complete with teak floorboards, old-world mosquito nets, slipper baths, outdoor showers and a superb view of the complete seasonal river. Each room is linked to the main lodge area by raised timber walkways set within a forest of ancient Jackalberry trees.

Activities

Hamiltons Tented Camp is based within a private concession within the Kruger National Park comprising three lodges: Imbali Safari Lodge, Hoyo Hoyo Safari Lodge and Hamilton’s Tented Camp.  Mluwati Concession was born out of a spirit of ensuring the future sustainability of the national park.

Popular activities include Nomadic African Spa treatments and open vehicle safaris, where, guests enjoy Kruger’s most spectacular landscapes and a variety of wildlife, birdlife, and plant life.

Game Drives

Both morning and afternoon safaris are conducted in open Land Cruisers. All guided safaris are led by qualified field guides to help you understand the smaller intricacies of the bush. Game viewing at Hamiltons Tented Camp is an opportunity to experience all that a safari adventure can offer.

As one of the first private concessions in the Kruger National Park, Mluwati works to maintain the sustainability of this pristine wilderness. This concession is home to 114 reptiles, 34 amphibians and 147 mammal species, including Africa’s Big Five.

Game drives accommodate a maximum of six guests and include refreshment stops along the way to allow guests to stretch their legs.

Keen birders will delight in the over 500 species of bird species that call Kruger National Park home. Most are found within the Mluwati Concession.

Morning Game Drives: The morning game drive leaves between 5:30 am and 6 am. Your guide will select a location to enjoy the bush, whilst enjoying a morning refreshment.

Afternoon Game Drives: The afternoon game drive leaves between 4pm and 5pm. After sundowners and snacks, your guide will use a spotlight to find nocturnal animals, before returning to the lodge for dinner.

Guided Bush Walks

Skip the game vehicle and opt for a one and a half-hour walk in the Private Concession. In these situations, guests can smell, touch and feel the natural surroundings. Get to know the smaller intricacies of nature.

Accommodation

luxury safari tent at hamiltons camp

Guests find exclusivity & privacy in six exceptionally private luxury and elevated tents overlooking the N’waswitsontso River. Each suite boasts a private deck, from which guests enjoy the sights and sounds of the bush that flourishes in this section of the park.

Old brass light switches, steamer trunks and ‘turn-of-the-century’ decor keep the style traditional. This creates an ambiance of long-past explorers without deviating from being a luxury safari camp.

Modern comforts such as electricity, air conditioning and an outdoor shower the only clues that we live in a different time.

The décor is light and neutral. Completing the Out of Africa experience with teak furniture and floors, gilded mirrors and crisp white linens. The luxury tent experience is enhanced with panoramic bush and river views.

Dining

Even the most discerning foodie will adore Hamilton’s international and African flavors.

A favorite is homemade baked goods and local specialties, but you’ll remember champagne breakfasts most. High Tea is served each afternoon with a delicious selection of cakes and pastries baked freshly at the lodge.
