The Outpost Lodge (Pafuri) is a luxury space set magnificently on a hill overlooking the Luvuvhu River. The private, free-standing suites are inter-connected to each other and the central lodge area by 500 meters of Zimbabwean teak walkway. Contemporary architecture makes use of concrete and steel with state-of the-art retractable, remote-controlled screens offering 180º of uninterrupted views. You will be hard-pressed to find a more spectacular lodge anywhere in Africa.

The lodge is located in the Pafuri area in the Northern Kruger Natioanl Park, and is arguably one of the most scenically beautiful and diverse wilderness areas within the Kruger.
Activities
The Outpost Lodge (Pafuri) is located within a 26,500ha concession belonging to the Makuleke people. this Pafuri area boasts nearly 80% of the Kruger Park’s biodiversity.
Two daily safaris are included in all rates at The Outpost Lodge and optional bush walks can be arranged in advance.
Game Drives
Both morning and afternoon safaris are conducted in open-fame vehicles. All guided safaris are led by qualified field guides to help you understand the smaller intricacies of the bush. Game viewing at The Outpost Lodge is an opportunity to experience the unique biome in which it is situated.
Morning Game Drives: The morning game drive leaves between 5:30 am and 6 am. Your guide will select a location to enjoy the bush, whilst enjoying a morning refreshment.
Afternoon Game Drives: The afternoon game drive leaves between 4pm and 5pm. After sundowners and snacks, your guide will use a spotlight to find nocturnal animals, before returning to the lodge for dinner.
Guided Bush Walks
Skip the game vehicle and opt for a one and a half-hour walk in the Private Concession. In these situations, guests can smell, touch and feel the natural surroundings. Get to know the smaller intricacies of nature.
Your guide will spend time teaching you more about the tracks and signs of the bush as well as about the smaller animals often overlooked in pursuit of the Big Five.

Accommodation
The Outpost’s awarded architecture accommodates 24 guests in 12 stand-alone luxury spaces cantilevered over the Luvuvhu River valley – connected to the central lodge area by a raised walkway.

Dining & Facilities
Enjoy your evening meals under the stars alongside a crackling campfire. Unwind with a luxurious spa treatment in the privacy of your room. Game drives leave at first morning light and late afternoon. For the adventurous, you can experience the wilderness on a guided walking safari.
*Although both lunch and dinner are served at the main lodge, guests can arrange for a private meal on their deck or in-suite on request
Getting to The Outpost Lodge (Pafuri)
Enter the Kruger National Park through Pafuri Gate. Please tell the gate guard that you are staying at The Outpost and he will reduce your entry fee into the Kruger Park. From this gate, travel until you see the sign for The Outpost (approx 5.6 km). The sign is built from rocks and is on the left-hand side of the road. Turn right at the sign and follow the dirt road for 4 km until you reach The Outpost.
TRANSFER / AIR:
There are no scheduled road transfers to the lodge, however, they can be arranged upon request through our preferred suppliers from Johannesburg and surrounding areas. Should you wish to fly in via private aircraft and land on our runway, please get in touch and we will assist with the necessary arrangements.
Gate entry fees of R100 per person are applicable and are charged per person per stay. This is paid at the gate entry to Kruger National Park.

Child Policy: only children aged 10 years up are allowed to stay at the lodge and are charged at adult rates. This includes all accommodation, game drives and meals but excludes drinks and a conservation fee of R 180.00 per day.
The camp is not fenced off and we request that guests be extremely vigilant at all times. Security guards accompany guests at all times while walking around the camp at night.
Passports:
Everyone traveling to South Africa must have a passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the end of travel.
No inoculations are legally required for entry. However, you may want to check with your local immunization and inoculation clinic for their recommendations on health precautions for travel to South Africa.
The service station at Tshipise is the last service station along the route, so please check your fuel as it is still approximately 120 km to The Outpost from this point.
There is no fuel pump at Pafuri Gate, so please ensure you have enough fuel for your journey back to Tshipise, or south through the Kruger National Park after your stay at The Outpost.
The last cellphone reception is at Tshipise, so if you need to make a call, this is the point to do so.
